How to create images with intention

Here is a good topic for thought as we get ready to head into a new year of photo exploration. This short article explains why "Every Frame You Skip Makes the One You Take Matter More".

I fully agree with this philosophy, Glenn. When someone remarks about how many photos they took on an outing or a trip, I say to myself, "Oh, poor you. I'll bet you didn't get one decent photo out of a hundred, and you'll wear yourself out sorting through all the detritis."

Photograph mindfully, but with creative intensity.

I ran into an interesting perspective on this on YouTube today. I've been playing with settings and practicing bursts for action shots (cats jumping at cat toys are great subjects in a controlled environment). I usually take more than one shot if I'm taking a photo of people, but it wouldn't have occurred to me to use bursts for portraits like the Thatcher portrait. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAP2p8PqewY

Excellent article, Glenn. I think a lot of important concepts from film days have been lost in the digital world. At 50 cents a shot (in 1972!!) we had to think carefully before pressing the release. And we're ALL guilty at times.
